New Requirements for the Content of Employment Contracts from July 1, 2024
The changes implement an EU Directive 2019/1152 on transparent and predictable working conditions, aiming to strengthen employees' rights to information about their working conditions, provide greater predictability, and promote permanent, full-time positions.
In addition to the current regulations, the list of information that the employer must include in the employment contract is expanded to cover, among other things, the following:
- Procedures for the termination of employment, including formal requirements and notice periods,
- Various components of salary, allowances, etc., which must be specified separately,
- Rights to other employer-paid leave aside from vacation,
- Information on rights to skill development that the employer may offer,
- The deadline for when an employment contract must be presented is shortened to seven days after commencing the position,
Changes to the employment contract must be included in the contract as soon as possible and no later than the day the change takes effect.
The new legal requirements do not mean that employers need to update existing employment contracts entered into before July 1, 2024. However, if an employee requests it, the employer must amend and supplement the existing employment contract in accordance with the legal changes within two months.
